Privacy policy
Last updated 28 July 2026The short version
We collect what the app needs to work: who you are, which house you're in, what chores you did, and what you spent. Your chore photos are sent to Google for scoring. Everyone in your house can see your house's data. We don't sell anything to anybody.
What we collect
- Account identity. When you sign in with Google we receive your email address and the identifier Google issues for you. We never see or store your Google password.
- Profile. The username you choose and the house you belong to.
- Chore activity. Photos you submit, the score and written feedback the model returns, and timestamps.
- Perceptual hashes. A short numeric fingerprint of each photo, used to detect duplicate submissions. It cannot be turned back into the image.
- Ledger data. Points awarded, expenses you record, and settlement status.
- Messages. What you type to the Symmate coach, so it can hold a conversation.
- Operational logs. Request identifiers, timings and errors, kept to run and debug the service.
Where your data goes
- Supabase — authentication and the database. Hosted in the United States.
- Google Cloud — the application itself runs on Cloud Run.
- Google Gemini — receives your before-and-after chore photos in order to score them.
- The provider behind Symmate — receives your chat messages and a summary of your house's recent activity so it can respond.
- Sentry — receives error reports, which can include request metadata, when enabled.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't run advertising.
Who can see what
Chore history, scores, photos and the expense ledger are visible to every member of your house. That's deliberate — the app doesn't work otherwise. Leaderboards show your house's name, its general location, and its score to other houses; they don't expose individual photos or expense detail.
Photographs
Only photograph the thing you're cleaning. Images are visible to your housemates and are processed by an external AI service. Don't capture documents, screens, or people who haven't agreed to it.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your data while your account exists. Ask us to delete it and we remove your profile, chore history, ledger entries and messages. Some records that also belong to other people — a settled expense between you and a housemate, for instance — may remain in their view of the ledger.
Backups and provider logs can lag behind a deletion by a short period before they roll over.
Your choices
- Leave the dataset-contribution programme alone, or turn it off; it's opt-in and nothing else changes.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it.
- Sign out on any device to end that session.
Children
ChorHaus isn't intended for under-13s, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
